Mr. Arena- Students have completed their money and finance preliminary numbers. The projects will begin this Thursday.

Mr. Grundy: Science projects are due next Monday. Please make sure your student is working on finishing up their projects and supporting materials. The science fair will also be on Monday, come check out how well our students have performed. We are starting the creation of our nation with the constitution.

Sixth Grade Blog

Hello Parents and Guardians,

The students did a good job last week getting through the AIMS testing. Results should come over the summer. We are continuing are lesson plans for the year.

Mr. Freeman- We are continuing our daily journals and spelling assignments. We are practicing sign language. If you see your students waving their hands around they are just practicing the alphabet and other key signs. Ms. Lyn- We are going over our reading assignments and next week we will be learning Louis Braille. Each student will be blind folded and able to write their name in braille.

Mr. Grundy- We are covering the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence. Science projects are due May 3rd. The science fair is also May 3rd. Make sure your student is working on their project so it is executed well and not a last minute job.

Mr. Arena- Going over problems concerning money and budgets. Try discussing how you budget your household items with your students.

Sixth Grade Blog

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We had an awesome time at Biztown. The students were commended by the Biztown staff about how well they were behaved and their job performance. Parent/Teacher conference sign up slips are going home this week. Please fill out and return if you want to have a conference. Conferences will be next week, Wed. 31st and Thurs. 1st. We have no school on Friday the 2nd in observance of Good Friday. Remember AIMS testing is coming in April, all teachers are working on AIMS prep to ensure our students do their best.

Sixth Grade Blog - Going to Biztown

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We are gearing up for Biztown this week as we will attend the first Monday we come back from Spring Break, March 22nd. We are still in need of parent volunteers to help facilitate the Biztown experience for our students. Please get with Irma in the front office if you need a finger print card done. Please fill out the Biztown form and turn in to any sixth grade teacher.

We would like to request that you google AIMS pretests for sixth grade to have your students practice over the break and prepare for AIMS testing in April.
Ms. Lyn also requested that students read their books for book reports that are due March 29th.

We hope everyone has a very good week off, enjoy Spring Break and Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Working on AIMS PREP

Hello Parents and Guardians,

Biztown is being moved to March 22nd, the Monday we return from Spring Break. We still need parent volunteers and students to turn in their money with permission slips.
Thank you for signing and returning progress reports.
Mr. Grundy- Health is going well with total health and body. Social studies moving into puritans, pilgrims, thirteen colonies and first settlements.

Mr. Freeman- We did a practice AIMS testing yesterday. Getting students ready for AIMS in April. Google AIMS pre-testing to get more info for your student to study.

Ms. Lyn- We are finishing up today our Pyramid projects. Parents will be able to see themat the parent/teacher conferences March 31st and April 1st.

Hello Parents & Teachers,

We have midterm progress reports going out next Friday, Feb. 26th, check with your child to make sure all assignments are turned in for grading.
Mark your calendars, we have a Family Fun night this month, Thursday, Feb. 25th. There will be food, fun events and a Slam Dunk Show. BIZTOWN is coming up very soon, Monday, March 8th. Each student will need to bring in $20 for the event. We also need parent volunteers to help out that day. Please make sure to have a fingerprint card on file with the office so you will be able to volunteer. Mrs. Hester could use any and all volunteers for this event. She will have more information to follow.

Mr. Freeman- We are working on language and grammar, getting prepared for AIMS testing.

Mr. Arena- We are getting ready to start a new section, Algebra.

Ms. Lyn- Students have learned how to spell their names in Greek and Hieroglyphic symbols. We are working on pyramids and mosaics.

Mr. Grundy- In Black History studies we finished with Fredrick Douglas. We are starting on Mrs. Sojourner Truth. In health we are continuing our studies on healthy relationships. Please ask your students about what we are covering. Continue to look at and sign the agendas.

Sixth Grade Blog week of Feb. 8th-12th

Hello Parents and Guardians,

We want to remind you to make sure and re-enroll your children to guarantee a spot for them next year. Mark your calendars, we have a Family Fun night this month, Thursday, Feb. 25th. Mr. Freeman- Continuing to work on Grammar/Writing. Beginning to work on AIMS prep.

Mr. Arena- Currently working on menu math which brings in all four forms of math. We will finish the section this week.

Ms. Lyn- Finishing Greeks and Romans. Just had students write their names in Greek, next will be hieroglyphics. we will be starting our pyramids and mosaics in another week. Happy Valentines Day.

Mr. Grundy- Continuing Black History Month studies. We are covering Healthy lifestyles; mental, physical and social. Health poster is due this Thursday. HELP us by looking at and signing your students agenda. We still have students not doing their homework even though we are writing daily in their agendas what is to be done. We want all our students to succeed.
